Comprehensive Cost Estimates

At Covenant HealthCare, we understand that managing healthcare costs is an important part of your journey to health and wellness. Our team is here to help you make informed financial decisions by providing accurate and transparent cost estimates for our services.

Why Cost Estimates Matter

Healthcare costs can vary based on the treatment plan, insurance coverage, and individual needs. Understanding your estimated out-of-pocket costs can help you prepare for the financial aspects of your care.

To comply with CMS regulations, we also provide information on negotiated rates with specific payers, including minimum and maximum charges for each service, along with estimated costs for self-pay patients. While the hospital's base charges remain the same for all patients, individual financial responsibilities may vary based on factors like negotiated rates with different insurance providers and personal out-of-pocket expenses (such as deductibles, co-insurance, and copays). Uninsured or underinsured patients are encouraged to speak with our patient financial advocates to learn about potential eligibility for financial assistance.

How We Calculate Your Cost Estimate

Our cost estimates are based on:

  • The specific services and procedures you may need.
  • Your insurance coverage and benefits.
  • Hospital charges, including physician fees, facility charges, and any necessary medical supplies.

Note: Your final out-of-pocket cost may vary based on additional services, unexpected needs, or adjustments to your treatment plan.

Use Our Online Cost Estimator Tool

Quickly get an estimate for common procedures and services by clicking on the link below. Next, enter the service you are inquiring on into the search services box and select your insurance payer. The payor allowed amount is the contracted payment for the service. Your payment will be your remaining deductible, coinsurance, co-pay, and out-of-pocket maximums related to the payor allowed amount.

Your actual charges may be different from the estimated charges for many reasons, including the seriousness of your medical condition, actual time the procedure takes and the services and supplies that you receive. Please keep in mind this list is not a guarantee of what you will be charged, and there may be a difference.

Understanding Your Insurance Coverage

If you have insurance, your benefits will ultimately determine the amount you owe (including deductibles, co-pay, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket maximums). If you proceed with services at Covenant, you may be given a new estimate at registration with more accurate cost and out-of-pocket information.

Check with your insurance provider to make sure your benefit plan includes Covenant HealthCare, or call us at 989-399-3125 or 888-890-8019 to speak with a billing specialist. We can help answer questions about your insurance coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

A: Hospitals are required by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to make pricing information available to the public. This information comes from what is called a chargemaster, which is a comprehensive list of standard prices set for every service, procedure, supply, and medication provided in the hospital.
These standard charges are meant to increase transparency, but they do not reflect the actual amount you may owe. Your final cost depends on factors like your insurance coverage, deductible, copay, coinsurance, and any financial assistance you may qualify for.
If you have questions about your bill or want an estimate of your out-of-pocket costs, our Patient Financial Services team can help.

A: Prices for services are based on many factors:
  • The cost of staff, equipment, and supplies
  • The amount of time staff are involved in procedures
  • Additional support expenses such as housekeeping, billing, and technology

The hospital follows national billing guidelines as outlined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

A: The prices reflected here represent the hospital costs. Additionally, you could receive separate bills for physicians’ fees for your pathologist, surgeon, anesthesia provider, radiologist, and other specialists. Some of the healthcare providers who treat you at Covenant Medical Center are independent and are contracted by Covenant to provide their services. Their fees are in addition to the fees on this price list.

A: No, cost estimates are based on average costs and your specific insurance benefits, but may not reflect the final amount owed.

A: Our billing specialists can provide an estimate and information on self-pay rates, as well as potential discounts.

A: We understand that unexpected costs can be stressful. Contact our billing department to discuss payment options or speak with a financial counselor about financial assistance.

Standard Charges by Medical Center

Hospital charges are the same for all patients. In compliance with new regulations from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), we have made our standard charges for each hospital publicly available in a machine-readable format.

Please note that these standard charges do not reflect your estimated out-of-pocket costs. Your final bill will depend on several factors, including your insurance coverage, deductible, copay, coinsurance, and any non-covered services. These details cannot be determined from the list of standard charges alone.

Uninsured or underinsured patients may qualify for financial assistance.
